If you wanted to understand a corporation’s culture, you wouldn’t just rely on looking at their pay structure, uniforms, and listing their office locations.  Yet this is the approach that some take in understanding the military.  We are a different sort of person, a different breed.  We are changed when we depart for boot camp and then deploy to our duty stations.  We hold different values, attitudes, and beliefs and have a very strong sense of duty, honor, grit, and sacrifice.
